Work with data

Pin data for testing

Freeze a node's output so you can build and test without calling the service every time.

Pinning freezes a node's output. While a node is pinned, test runs use the pinned items instead of running the node, so you can:

  • keep building without calling an API, sending an email or using AI credits every time;
  • test the rest of the workflow with a specific example, such as an edge case;
  • work on a workflow whose trigger is hard to fire (a webhook, an incoming WhatsApp message).

Pin and unpin

  • Run the node once, open it and click Pin on its output. Or select the node and press P.
  • To test with made-up data, choose Set mock data and type the items as JSON.
  • A pin icon on the node shows it's pinned. Press P again or click Unpin to remove it.

Production runs ignore pins

Pinned data only affects runs you start in the editor. When the workflow is active, every node runs for real.

Debug a past run

From an execution, Debug in editor loads that run's data into the canvas as pinned data, so you can reproduce a failure with the exact same input.
