Flow logic

Handle errors

Retries, continue on error, Stop and Error, and error workflows that alert you.

Retry a node

Open a node's Settings tab and turn on Retry on fail. Choose the number of attempts (up to 5) and the wait between them. Useful for APIs that sometimes time out.

Continue on error

Turn on Continue on fail to let the workflow carry on when the node fails. The error is passed on as the node's output, so you can check it with an IF node.

Node timeout

Set a node timeout to stop a node that takes too long.

Stop and Error

The Stop and Error node fails the execution on purpose with your message, for example when required data is missing.

Error workflows

An error workflow runs whenever another workflow fails, so you hear about problems straight away.

  1. Create a workflow that starts with an Error Trigger, then sends an alert (Slack, email, WhatsApp…). The trigger outputs the failed workflow's name, the error message, the failing node and a link to the execution.
  2. In the workflow you want to watch, open Settings and choose it as the Error workflow.

Failure alerts and retries

  • Organization owners can turn on email failure alerts when many runs fail. See Audit log and monitoring.
  • Failed runs can be retried with the same data after you fix the cause.
